A placebo is a term used to examine the management of a sugar pill or a sham procedure, whether a drug or procedure is more effective than the authority of the faith. In an article in The Guardian (Thursday, June 20, 2002), Jerome Burne reports that "recent studies show that placebos ¬ works surprisingly well, in fact somewhat better than some conventional drugs."
Placebo (which literally means "I please") is incorporated as a fundamental element of all engineering today. The result is a purely bottomd placebo on subjective assessment of a person. Any person seeking review of the appropriateness of a drug product is considered a rare and random. A number of people with optimism, determination, self-confident and therefore a placebo replica stronger than others. Others may have depression, which are known to affect a person's ability to fully respond to treatment. Therefore, to "prove" a study, a meticulous drug to be effective for, say, a certain type of cancer. However, if a study conducted by the repetition of various topics, the drug may be ineffective compared to the placebo response.
For this reason, pharmaceutical companies pay to educate their researchers publish only the positive results of this diversity of experiences. Parts of the study that the drug is no or only a negligible advantage over the results of the placebo but not in the final report of the study.
Pharmaceutical company that its findings to the Food and Drug Administration report (FDA) is only necessary to show that drug testing has shown some benefits in some people. When researchers enough candidates with an optimistic character who probably muster a placebo response and drug therapy to produce, you can hit the jackpot and create a "convincing" does the course and a drug.
This is obvious for the drug manufacturers and the FDA approval for cancer drugs on response rates, which at best 10-20 percent will be granted based. In short, the "success" of the majority of clinical trials of cancer through the reduction of the tumor rather than the measured level of humanity. Shrunk in other words, even though most of the subjects died, but their tumors by destructive treatments, the study would be a great victory and a medical pass.
Every time you treat the human body, as if it is a machine, a mechanical or chemical manipulation were responding, is bound to have serious setbacks. This area is not only scientific but also ethical and potentially dangerous. For many cancer patients already compromised their resistance systems, a single dose of chemotherapy or radiation therapy can be fatal.
It is primarily oncologists, famous Dr. Charles Moertel of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, once the dilemma of cancer treatment with the following words: "Our effective arrangements are fraught with risks and side effects, and sensitive issues, and the price for all patients is paid, we treated only a small fraction of a weakening of the transition period from a tumor are usually incomplete rewarded. "
The record of success in today's abysmal treatment of cancer is much less than even the lowest response to placebo. In the regular remission in only 7 percent of cancer patients. On the other hand, there is no evidence that this decline disappointing 7 "success rate" percentage offered treatment results, but it could very well be in the wickedness of these treatments. This is probably because all the treatments against cancer has a success rate much higher than its treatment. Drugs that provide temporary tumor shrinkage in 10 percent of the patients is a promising therapy, but is a dangerous game with life.
